Getting there

By train (strongly recommended)

A 4-hour train from London Paddington runs to Bodmin Parkway, followed by a 20 minute taxi drive. We'll send everyone a recommended train once the timetable is out.

Top tip: sit on the left side facing forward and you get a very pretty view of the sea for the last stretch of the journey.

By car

Driving in Cornwall is not for the faint of heart. If you are a nervous driver, or you're not comfortable with narrow Cornish roads, you'll be much happier on the train.

We strongly recommend you set off on Friday 18th June if you are driving. Google says it takes 5 hours to get to Liskeard from London — it is often much longer than this. We set a record of 11 hours in 2026 due to heatwave-induced mayhem on the roads.

If you're renting a car, taking the train to Plymouth or Bodmin Parkway and picking up your rental from Enterprise locations nearby may be a more comfortable journey.

There's plenty of free parking at Trevenna. Google Maps can take you down narrow country lanes so we strongly recommend using these directions from the venue.

By plane

Newquay Cornwall Airport (NQY) is the closest airport, about 30 minutes by car.

Dress code

Formal attire.

Ankle or floor-length dresses, pantsuits, and suits worn with a tie. We'd love for everyone to dress colourfully — no white or black.

Weather

Weather permitting, the ceremony will take place outdoors on grass. It's Cornwall, though, so we're planning for rain! Cornish weather can be quite changeable, so bring layers, suncream and umbrellas.

Invitations

Only named guests are invited — no plus ones.

We're keeping it child-free, and completely understand if that means you can't make it. For local childcare, Trevenna recommends The Seaside Nanny Agency.

Gifting

Please no gifts! The fact that you're making the trip means everything to us. We'll have a card box and guestbook at the wedding that you can sign — bonus points for poems, stories (fiction and non-fiction) and jokes!

For the determined

We've been firmly overruled on the "no gifts" front by certain people. So, if you'd genuinely rather, there's a honeymoon fund here.

If you'd like to give in our name instead, the Sutton Trust is an incredible social mobility charity that changed the course of Laura's life. Donate here.

No physical gifts, please. Our flat simply doesn't have the space.

Where to stay

The area around Trevenna has a good range of B&Bs, self-catering cottages, and a couple of small hotels. We strongly recommend booking as soon as you're able to. Please note there's no safe walking route from the venue — please pre-book a taxi.

Taxis

Taxis must be pre-booked by 11th June 2027. Carriages are at 11:30pm.

Our story

Not every great love story starts smoothly. We met in economics class, widely acknowledged as the most romantic of all the classes. Our first date came after Joe sent Laura a rather enthusiastic drunken message at his 18th birthday party, which turned into a spectacularly hungover coffee date the morning after. Laura paid — we've been nontraditional from the very start.

Over the years, we've navigated a lot, including four years of a 5-hour time difference while Laura was studying in New York and Joe was in London. Things swung to the other extreme when the government mandated we spend 24/7 together during covid. It turns out, we quite enjoy that.

These days, we share a wonderful life together in London along with Otis, our adorable, perfectly trained, totally relaxed, and very much sane dog. We are no longer particularly good at being apart from each other, or from him.

We are so fortunate to have such wonderful friends and family in our lives, and we're truly grateful for the love and support you have shown us over the past ten years. It is a real privilege that you would make the journey to the beautiful South West coast to celebrate with us — we can't wait to share our special day with you all.
